1. Episode 1

On the way driving to the scene of murder of a club girl, senior inspector CHUNG DIK KI collides his car with that of the research chemist CHUNG YUEN WAH, much to his frustration. Later he sees how meticulous and serious she handles her work and his impression on her turns favoured. YUEN WAH happens to be the close friend of CHUI FUNG who is DIK KI's subordinates. DIK Kl and YUEN WAH thus begins their friendship. After graduated from secondary school, KA MEI married DIK KI. However, all along she is not .satisfied .with just being a housewife, and often makes excuses to develop her singing career. Night after night KA MEI goes to the lounge to work as part-time singer, leaving her daughter YIK LING behind at home. For this reason, the couple often has quarrels. Sergeant POON KAI TANG is switched to work in the Serious Crime Department.… ...

2. Episode 2

Aired: 3/2/1988

KAI TANG interrogates NAM and obtains information about the drugs trafficking organization which helps the police in uncovering the four top drugs trafficking stalls. KAI TANG makes great achievement and is praised by his superior. DIK KI and KAI TANG perchance come along a drug dealer doing his business. KAI TANG decides to catch the criminal with bare hands but is shot instead. DIK KI protects and saves him. The police arrives at the scene and arrests the criminals. DIK KI promises KA MEI to be with her for her last performance but he suddenly receives order to get to work. Disappointed and frustrated, KA ME! decides to go to Taiwan to develop her singing career, leaving her husband and daughter behind. KAI TANG accompanies DIK KI to investigate a murder case at the construction site and gets to know YUEN WAH. Falls for her, KAI TANG tries to chat with her, but is received coldly.… ...

3. Episode 3

Aired: 3/3/1988

Upon leaving, KA MEI cannot find her passport, thinks that DIK KI has takes it away, thus goes to annoy him and causes much disturbances at the police station. Later she discovers that it is YIK LING who takes the passport away so her mother cannot leave her. KA MEI feels sorry but she still keeps her decision and leaves. DIK KI gets very depressed which affects his work and he misses the chance of getting promoted, much to deepen his sorrow. After much effort, DIK KI finds a taxi driver, LEE YUET KAM, to be a suspect and arrests him. ,Though there are supporting evidences, DIK KI lacks the crucial ones to charge KAM. Just when DIK KI buries himself in work to cover his sorrow, he receives the lawyer's letter from hi~ wife asking to separate with him. DIK KI thus feels much depressed. KAI TANG comforts him and he decides to put aside his sorrow.… ...

KAI TANG takes the excuse to cheer DIK KI up and organizes a barbecue. His real purpose is to get close to YUEN WAH whom he finally manages to have a date with. KAI TANG goes out with YUENWAH and comes across a young woman, MA WEI FUN, being robbed. KAl TANG catches the thief but finds that the young woman has disappeared, much to puzzle him. YUEN WAH looks into a mysterious case of murdering a baby and the suspect is WEI FUN. The fact is that WEI FUN is a Mr. AU's mistress and after his wife gave birth to a baby, he handed it to WEI FUN's care so they can meet more conveniently. At the day of the happening, WEI FUN goes out to buy some cooking oil and when she is back, discovers that the baby is thrown into the streets. Thus, she becomes the most lplausible suspect.… ...

5. Episode 5

KAI TANG and YUEN WAH go to the scene to investigate and discover an insane man with strange behaviour. After much interrogation, KAI TANG and YUEN WAH reveal that the man felt so annoyed by the baby's crying that in a rage threw it into the street. WEI FUN proves her innocence, but on the other hand BAK KAM grows more jealous of KAI TANG. Knowing that DIK KI refuses to sign the agreement to separate with her, KAI MEI returns to Hong Kong to ask for a divorce. Realizing that he cannot save his marriage, DIK KI tries hard to win his daughter’s custody. KAI TANG often takes chances to court YUEN WAH who finds it hard to reject him since the two are working together. Later when the job is done, YUEN WAH makes excuse to get away from KAI TANG since she is not moved by him at all. During her stay in Taiwan, KAI MEI quickly gets on with a famous agent, YIU CHIN SHING, and with his management, makes a successful change.… ...

6. Episode 6

DIK KI suffers from failure in his marriage and feels very depressed. YUEN WAH comforts him and tells him about her hardships in childhood. DIK KI is enlightened and the two know more about each other. KAI TANG is jealous of YUEN WAH getting along well with DIK KI and interferes her freedom. Annoyed, YUEN WAH rejects to go out with KAI TANG who then seeks for CHUI FUNG’s advice to please her. CHUI FUNG tell KAI TANG to be patient. KA MEI gives time to DIK KI to play with YIK LING. Occupied with work, DIK KI asks CHUI FUNG to take care of her daughter. Playing for the whole night, YIK LING forgets to revise her lessons. Discovered to have cheated in class, YIK LING is detained after school. When peeping others at night using his binoculars, FAI perchance witnesses a murder but he is afraid to report it. Guilty conscious, FAI finally supplies clues to the police.… ...

7. Episode 7

Occupied with work, DlK Kl asks for YUEN WAH's favour o take care of YIK LING but she has fallen ill out ‧of over anxious about her cheating in class. DIK KI feels that he cannot afford the time to take care of YIK LING and decides to give up her custody. Later he finds that KA MEI has already taken YIK LING to stay with her in Taiwan, much t6 his sorrow. YUEN WAH comforts DIK KI and gives him much concern. Touched, DlK KI grows fond of YUEN WAH but since he has not recovered from his sorrow, he dares not start another love. LEUNG KWONG finds a wallet in a taxi and realizes that it belongs to his neighbour, CHENG MUI CHIN. KWONG returns it to CHING and the two have a nice chat. Being a widow at her middle age and left with a considerable amount of money, MUI CHING feels lonely and is delighted. to have someone talk to her. The two quickly become friends. All along CHENG TAK LUNG does not have a legitimate profession.… ...

8. Episode 8

Aired: 3/10/1988

To repay PO, LEUNG KWONG asks DIK KI to look for AH SAI and locates him. KWONG takes PO to meet AH SAI but they have been followed by BAK KAM who then sends men to arrest AH SAI. BAK KAM has once had dispute with LEUNG KWONG so he purposely makes excuse to detain him. MUI CHING gets him released on ball. Ten years ago, LEUNG KWONG was chased by his enemies and he knocked down BAK KAM’s brother by accident. BAK KAM charged him but the court released him on the condition that KAM’s brother died by accident. Frustrated, KAM grudges against KWONG for all these years. TAK LUNG is afraid that AH SAI would reveal their drug dealing business to the police but he lacks money to flee secretly. He then seeks help from LO HING WING of the underworld. LO hires a lawyer to erase AH SAI’s guilt and frame LEUNG KWONG. Though convinced that LEUNG KWONG is innocent, DIK KI fails to find evidences to speak for him.… ...

9. Episode 9

Aired: 3/11/1988

Though released, LEUNG KWONG loses his job at the restaurant. Feeling hurt, KWONG purposely avoids DIK KI and MUI CHINS. LEUNG KWONG indulges himself but after DIK KI's encouragement, he regains his self-confidence. LEUNG KWDNG wishes to open a snack shop but finds no access. MUI CHING gives him support, asking TAK LUNG to give him a hand. TAK LUNG is afraid that LEUNGKWONG would reveal his secret of dealing drugs and rejects to help him. Not wanting to discourage LEUNG KWONG, MUI CHING joins LEUNG KWONG in partnership. ' KAI TANG makes use of his birthday to date YUEN WAH. Not wanting to be alone with KAI TANG, YUEN WAH invites the colleagues to come along, much to disappoint KAI TANG. HING WING forces TAK LUNG to do smuggling business with PETER LAU.… ...

10. Episode 10

Aired: 3/14/1988

SIU MEI takes her first job as an insurance broker. One day, she goes to PETER's firm and PETER, who is attracted to her, tempts her by a prized watch to get close to her. Yielding to vanity, SIU MEI gets on with him. Knowing that SIU MEI is KAI TANG's sister, PETER works with her superior, HENRY, and takes a chance to rape her. Afterwards, HENRY tells SIU MEI to keep it secret. Realizing that it is PETER's trick,BIU MEI feeling hurt and frustrated, faints in the street. SIU ME! is taken to the hospital and she tells KAI TANG about the whole thing. Frustrated, KAI TANG tries hard to gather evidences to charge PETER. DIK KI helps to interrogate PETER but fails to obtain evidences against him. PETER even takes the chance to tease SIU MEI. Learning about this, and in a rage, KAI TANG goes to PETER's firm to create disturbances. KAI TANG gets reprimanded by his superior in the end.… ...

11. Episode 11

Aired: 3/15/1988

SIU MEI sues PETER and the matter is brought before the court. Because of insufficient evidences, PETER remains out of the law's reach. SIU MEI receives the blow and nearly suffers from nervous break-down. Failing to take revenge for his sister, KAI TANG goes into extremes and decides to shoot PETER in the streets. DIK KI stops him in time but since KAI TANG breaks the rule of the police discipline, he is switched to take beats in the streets. Discouraged, KAI TANG treats his new job casually. DIK KI cheers him up but KAI TANG refuses to listen to him, thinking that he has been watching him degraded with folded arms. KWOK MAN suggests marriage to SIU MEI who is much surprised. Advised by her family, SIU MEI finally agrees to marry KWOK MAN. YUEN WAH makes arrangement for KAITANG and DIK KI to meet. The two friends finally compromise with each other.… ...

12. Episode 12

Aired: 3/16/1988

DIK KI takes his courage and reveals his love for YUEN WAH who feels greatly touched, their relationship becomes more intimate. KAI TANG is jealous of YUEN WAH getting along with DIK KI and decides to suggest marriage to her ahead of DIK KI. YUEN WAH rejects him and claims that she only loves DIK KI, much to disappoint KAI TANG. DIK KI goes to comfort KAI TAM3 who misunderstands him to be boasting of winning YUEN WAH's love. In a rage, KAI TANG slaps DIK KI, the two friends turns to enemies again. Not wanting to be under PETER's control, TAK LUNG tempts KAI TANG to Join him and the two tricks PETER to yield his shares. To avenge his sisters KAI TANG takes the chance to beat PETER up. After marriage, SIU MEI fails to please KWOK MAN since she is still haunted by her past experience of being raped. KAI TANG invites the two for an outing to enhance their love for each other.

13. Episode 13

Aired: 3/17/1988

HING WING appreciates KAI TANG’s ability and persuades him to join his underworld organizatiori. Yielding to vanity, KAI TANG agrees. KAI TANG feels relieved when he sees that SIU MEI gets along well with KWOK MAN. However, he pities on himself and feels more lonely. DIK KI has to look into several cases of jewelry robbery and managest to have KAI TANG back to assist him, KAI TANG finds much complications in the cases and suspects that HING WING is involved. CHIN SHING signs many contracts for KA MEI, thereafter takes the mone;y and slips away, Finding herself unable to take care of YIK LING< KA MEI sends her back to DIDK KI. DIK KI hurries to Taiwan to look after KA MEI but she has already returned to Hong Kong illegally, now working at a low rate night club. DIK KI takes KAI MEI home. making her feel uneasy. DIK KI receives inside information and sends a large group of men to arrest the robbers.… ...

14. Episode 14

Aired: 3/18/1988

Afraid that DIK KI would reunite with KA MEI, YUEN WAH is caught in a dilemma and purposely avoids DIK KI. KA MEI invites YUEN WAH to YIK LING’s birthday party but teases her in front of others and hints to her that she would reunite with DIK KI. Embarrassed and frustrated, YUWN WAH leaves the scene. To please YUEN WAH, DIK KI invites YUEN WAH to party. That night, KA MEI clings to DIK KI, much to YUEN WAH's frustration. Later DIK Kt explains KA MEI's sorrow to YUEN WAH who then shows more consideration for her. Encouraged by DIK KI, KA MEI joins a singing contest. Just before she stages, she threatens DIK KI to reunite with her but he refuses to comply. KA MEI sings her sad love song with much expression and finally win~ the contest. She then regains her confidence for life. With information supplied by the suspects, DIK KI recovers most of the jewelry but he falls to find out the ring-leader.… ...

15. Episode 15

Aired: 3/21/1988

YUEN WAH arranges DlK KI to meet TAK LUNG. DIK KI recognies TAK LUNG to be a suspect and asks YUEN WAH about him. YUEN WAH claims to know nothing of it. TAK LUNG is afraid that after DIK KI and YUEN WAH get married, DIK KI would be an obstacle to his illegal business. TAK LUNG hints to DIK KI to join him but DIK KI is not moved. DIK KI decides to withdraw from investigating atahe case but is rejected by his sulperior. PANG KWAI, LEUNG KWONG's close friend, has been grudging against DIK KI since he was sentenced to 8 years imprisonment because of elK KI's work. KWAI escapes, demanding money from LEUNG KWONG to take revenge on DIK KI. Failing to sstop him, KWONG is forced to sell his shares to BAK CHING in order to gather money for KWAI. PANG KWAI asks HING WING to get a hun for him, Fear of KWAI, Hing WING orders TAK LUNG to force KAI TANG yield his gun. To deceive others, KAI TANG pretends that he is attacked and his gun taken away.

16. Episode 16

Aired: 3/22/1988

PANG KWAI makes ambush outside DIK KI's house and shoots him on his return. DIK KI is alert and even takes the move to chase KWAI. Flees in panic and hurt by DIK KI's shot, KWAI holds a passer-by in hostage, grabs a taxi, and slips away. Hurt seriously, PANG KWAI seeks help from LEUNG KWONG who then goest to look afterhim, not knowing that DIK KI has sent his man to follow him. LEUNG KWONG asks DIK KI to give u; suing KWAI. To uphold justice, DIK KI is determined to arrest KWAI. d to arrest KWAI.

17. Episode 17

Aired: 3/23/1988

Finding no way out, PANG KWAI demands a large sum of money from HING WING. Making use of KAI TANG's grudge against KWAI, HING WING asks KAI TANG to meet KWAI at the jpark and negotiate with him. DIK KI and hisfamily happen to be at eht scen. KWAI directs his gun to DIK KI. KAI TANG takes a chance and shoots KWAI to death. After operation, KWOK MAN turns emotional unstable and often loses his temper on SIU MEI. KAI TANG regards himself responsible and feels very guilty. He then agrees to work again for HING WING to earn money for KWOK MAN to do further operation overseas. DIK KI perchance discovers that KAI TANG has lent a hand in TAK LUNG's business and thwI suspects that the lost gun is in fact.a trick of the two. DIK KZ looks into TAK LUNG's background and tries hard to gather evidences of his crime.

18. Episode 18

Aired: 3/24/1988

DIK KI is afraid that YUEN WAH would act rashly and destroy his plan once learning of TAK LUNG’s crime, thus asks to break up with her for the time being. YUEN WAH is greatly puzzled. DIK KI sends two new subordinates to follow TAK LUNG. Informed that TAK LUNG is doing a business dealing of the robbed jewelry, DIK KI goes to arrest him. YUEN WAH happens to be at the scene and learning of her brother's crime, falls in deep sorrow. DIK KI finds that TAK LUNG has transferred his property to YUEN WAH and is on his way leaving Hong Kong. DIK KI rushes to the airport and arrests TAK LUNG, forcing him to co-operates with athe police to gather HING WING’s evidence of crime. On the way back to the police station, TAK LUNG is shot to death by HING WING's men. Feeling that DIK KI has involved his brother, YUEN WAH is caught in a dilemma and she finally asks to break up with him, much to his sorrow.… ...

19. Episode 19

Aired: 3/25/1988

HING WING sends KAI TANG to receive weapons smuggling from overseas.‧ DIK KI gets information ahead of time and manages to get all the weapons. HING WING suspects that among them there is an insider working for the police and orders KAI TANG to::o find that out. To test KAI TANG, DIK KI purposely reveals to him that HUNG CHUNG is the insider. KAI TANG takes acti6n and is caught red~handed by DIKKI. KAI TANG decides to turn. on a new leaf and agrees to be the insider, gathering HING WING's evidences of crime. HING WING makes use of KAI TANG's position to have hisman ALAN killing one of his enemies. To avoid being sspected, KAI TANG helps readily. Howeverm he fails to grasp HING WING’s evidences of crime. To win HINa WING's entrust, KAI TANG informs him that, ALAN is at the hospital, seriously hurt. Afraid that ALAN would reveal their secret, HING WING orders KAI TANG to kill him.… ...

20. Episode 20

Aired: 3/28/1988

KWOK MAN finds that KAI TANG gets along with HING WING and mistakes the two to be working together. After KAI TANG's explanation, KWOK MAN offers to be the contact between KAI TANG and DIK KI KAI TANG secretly hides a tape recorder afround his body and records HING WING’s talk with another man of the underworld. KAI TANG then passes the tape to KWOK MAN to take it to DIK KI. HING WING’s man, AH TUNG, discovers their act and decides to grab the tape. DIK KI comes along in time to stop AH TUNG and gets back the tape. DIK KI forces AH TUNG to work with the police and finally manages to catch HING WING red-handed. Though got hurt by KING WING's shot, KAI TANG feels much relieved now that the criminal is caught. CHUI FUNG sees that DIK KI has finished his job and persuades him to reunite with YUEN WAH.
