Preeti Jhangiani

Preeti Jhangiani

Preeti Jhangiani was Born in Mumbai, Maharashtra into a Sindhi-speaking family, Preeti Jhangiani pursued her education at the prestigious Jai Hind College in Mumbai. She is proficient in both Hindi and English. Her journey into the spotlight began with Rajshri Music’s popular music video “Chui Mui Si Tum Lagti Ho”, where she starred alongside South Indian actor Abbas. The video not only became a chartbuster but also turned Preeti into a national sensation. This early success led her to land three film roles in 1999 — including the Malayalam film Mazhavillu and two Telugu films: Thammudu opposite superstar Pawan Kalyan and Narasimha Naidu opposite Balakrishna. Preeti made a significant mark in Bollywood with her debut in Yash Raj Films’ Mohabbatein, directed by Aditya Chopra. Starring opposite legends like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, she portrayed a young widow — a role that won her acclaim and established her firmly in the hearts of audiences. Following the success of Mohabbatein, she appeared in several mainstream Hindi films under major production houses. Her notable works include Aawara Pagal Deewana and Annarth (Feroz Nadiadwala Productions) opposite Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty, Wah! Tera Kya Kehna and Ssukh with Govinda, and LOC Kargil directed by J.P. Dutta. Her filmography also spans titles like Chehra, Chahat, Sauda, Jaane Hoga Kya, With Luv Tumhaara, Victoria No. 203, and the superhit Chand Ke Paar Chalo. On March 23, 2008, Preeti married actor Parvin Dabas. Together, they launched Swen Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., under which they produced the award-winning film Sahi Dhande Galat Bande. The film received critical acclaim, was featured in the Indian Panorama selection of the International Film Festival of India, and won the Bronze Palm Award at the Houston Film Festival. Expanding beyond cinema, the couple ventured into sports entrepreneurship by co-founding The Pro Panja League, India’s premier professional armwrestling league. Its inaugural season aired on Sony Sports Network from July 28 to August 11, 2023, drawing over 35 million unique viewers and gaining global recognition as the finest production in the sport. Renowned actor and businessman Suniel Shetty also joined the venture as a minority stakeholder. The league is now gearing up for its second season, scheduled for October 4, 2024, in Mumbai, with live coverage once again on Sony Sports Network. In addition to film and sports, Preeti and Parvin’s company owns and operates several popular digital media platforms including The MMA India Show, The Sports India Show, The Fitness India Show, and Monsoon Weddings. Preeti Jhangiani also holds the prestigious position of President of the People’s Armwrestling Federation India (PAFI), which is officially affiliated with both the World Armwrestling Federation (WAF) and the Asian Armwrestling Federation (AAF) — cementing her place as a key figure in the growth of armwrestling in India.
